The seasonal window
Malibu's Dark Sky Ordinance lets seasonal lighting exceed the usual 3000K limit only from November 15 to January 15. Seasonal lighting is also exempt from the ordinance's limits on string lights. Plan your install for after November 15 and your takedown for before January 15. The ordinance's other requirements may still apply, so check the city's Dark Sky page or ask the Planning Department about your display.
Holiday lights on the coast
Winter storms and ocean wind are hard on clips and connections, especially on beachfront and bluff-top homes. We plan the attachment for exposure, and we keep the controller and connections out of the weather.
