Fresno is home base
Night Owl is based in Fresno, and the city's housing changes a lot from one neighborhood to the next. The Tower District has homes from the 1920s and 1930s around the 1939 Tower Theatre. Old Fig Garden is an unincorporated county island laid out in 1919 on half-acre and one-acre lots, so its houses sit far back from the street. North Fresno has many newer two-story homes with concrete tile roofs.
Each of those needs a different plan, which is why every Fresno quote starts with a measure of your actual house.
Summer heat and winter fog
Fresno's July highs average close to 98°F, and the city sees about 38 days a year at 100°F or hotter. In winter it goes the other way. Tule fog settles in, and December gets less than half of its possible sunshine. Lights here have to cope with months of direct sun and then weeks of damp, gray nights.
Historic districts
Fresno has locally designated historic districts, including Wilson Island in the Tower District, Huntington Boulevard and the Porter Tract. Design review there follows the Secretary of the Interior's Standards. If your home is in one of them, check with the City of Fresno's historic preservation staff before you change the exterior. We can plan the layout around what they tell you.
