A planned community
Palos Verdes Estates was planned by the Olmsted Brothers, and its deed restrictions date to 1923. From the start, an Art Jury governed the architecture, which is why the city has such a consistent Mediterranean Revival character. Malaga Cove Plaza is its best-known example.
Art Jury review
The Palos Verdes Homes Association and its Art Jury still review exterior changes, such as windows, roofs, paint and landscaping. Exterior lighting isn't named in the published review criteria. Ask the Homes Association whether your lighting plan needs review before you install.
