Naples and Belmont Shore
Naples is a set of islands laced with about two miles of canals. Arthur M. Parsons began developing it around 1903, and he pictured Italianate homes with red tile roofs. Next door, Belmont Shore's Second Street is the main shopping and dining street.
Two December traditions anchor the season. The Naples Island Christmas Boat Parade has been held since 1946, alongside a holiday home-decor contest. The Belmont Shore Christmas Parade on Second Street reached its 41st year in 2025.
Historic districts
Long Beach has historic districts near the coast, including Bluff Park, Belmont Heights and Bluff Heights. Exterior changes in them need a Certificate of Appropriateness from the Cultural Heritage Commission or city staff.
