The alley side
Many Santa Monica blocks have rear alleys, and garages often open onto them. A brighter white along the garage eave, on a dusk-to-dawn schedule, lights the alley side of the property while the street side stays soft warm white.

For courtyard homes and Spanish Revival entries, warm white along the eave lights the courtyard from above without adding fixtures to the walls.
