Christmas Tree Lane
Christmas Tree Lane started in 1920 and runs about two miles along North Van Ness Boulevard through Old Fig Garden. It is volunteer-run and paid for by residents and donations. In past years it had walk-only nights. The 2025 season was open to cars only.
If you live on or near the Lane, you know what December traffic is like. Getting your lights up before the Lane opens makes the install much simpler.
Fog, rain and December nights
Tule fog is part of a Fresno December, and the month gets less than half of its possible sunshine. Lights stay damp for days at a time, so connections and the controller location matter as much as the bulbs. A timer keeps the display on through the fog without anyone going outside to plug it in.
